Solar Pumped Hydro
Hydro power technology harnesses the gravitational energy in water, generating power when water is pumped into an upper storage reservoir through the day or overnight when prices are low (off-peak), then released into a lower reservoir during periods of high demand when prices are high (peak).

Solar PV and wind on track to be global energy resources within two decades
With rapidly falling costs and rising resources, solar PV and wind power are on track to completely replace fossil fuels worldwide within two decades, although the time frame would depend mostly on politics. Solar PV and wind energy offer the only realistic chance of...
Researchers says Australia could run on renewable energy alone within 20 years
An analysis by researchers at the Australian National University (ANU) found that Australia has the capacity to store up to 1,000 times more renewable energy than it could ever need. An engineering professor at ANU Andrew Blakers carried out a study looking into...
Australian government funds a relocatable solar farm
Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) reportedly committed $2.1 million in support of the commercialization of a 1-megawatt relocatable solar farm that is being developed by SunSHIFT. But the government funding isn’t a donation – the Australian Financial Review...

Australian Clean Energy Council executive reflects a record year for renewables
In Australia, 2017 was a record year for renewables but ongoing policy uncertainty means it isn’t guaranteed. Fifty large-scale renewable energy projects were either actively under construction or had secured a financial commitment by the end of the year. Up to more...
Unlocking Australia’s energy storage potential
The Clean Energy Council released a policy paper in May of 2017 outlining a package of targeted reforms to support the increased roll out of energy storage projects at residential, commercial and grid scales. It recommended 13 reforms across four categories to achieve...
More than a million Australians are now turning to the sun for power
In 2016, 16 percent of Australia’s clean energy generation was from small-scale solar PVs, which accounted to 2.8 percent of the country’s total electricity. Compared to 2015, there was an increase of 7 percent in the installation of small-scale off grid solar...
Ludington Power Plant to get 15% more power after a six-year upgrade
The six-year $800+ million upgrade of the Ludington Pumped Storage Power plant set its generating capacity to 2,172 megawatts. In 2011, Consumers Power and Detroit Edison announced the $800 million upgrade for the power plant, with plans to replace the six turbines...
China Builds Worlds Largest Floating Solar Farm
China has associated an immense, gliding photovoltaic (PV) ranch to the neighborhood control matrix, flicking the switch on the biggest office of its kind on the planet. The 40-megawatt office is situated in the city of Huainan, in Anhui region – a territory known for...
